Military Awards


Param Vir Chakra: Param Vir Chakra is India\'s highest military decoration awarded for the displaying distinguished acts of valour during wartime. The name of the award translates as the "Wheel of the Ultimate Brave".


Mahavir Chakra: The Maha Vir Chakra is the second highest military decoration in India, and is awarded for acts of conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the enemy.


Vir Chakra: Vir Chakra is the third highest military decoration in India, and presented for acts of bravery in the battlefield.


Ashok Chakra: The Ashoka Chakra is India\'s highest peacetime military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield. The decoration may be awarded either to military or civilian personnel. 


Kirti Chakra: The Kirti Chakra is Second in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards, and is an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the field of battle. It may be awarded to civilians as well as military personnel, including posthumous awards. 


Shaurya Chakra: The Shaurya Chakra is third in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards, an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy. It may be awarded to civilians as well as military personnel, sometimes posthumously. 


Civilian awards


Bharat Ratna: The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. The award is conferred "in recognition of exceptional service/performance of the highest order".


Padma Vibhushan: The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, preceded by Bharat Ratna and followed by Padma Bhushan.


Padma Bhushan: The Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, preceded by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan and followed by the Padma Shri.


Padma Shri: Padma Shri ( Padmashree) is the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan, and the Padma Bhushan. it is announced every year on Republic Day.


Sahitya Akademi Award: The Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor in India. Sahitya Akademi Award prizes to the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognized by the Akademi


Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna: The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna is the highest sporting honor of the Republic of India.


Dronacharya award: The Dronacharya Award for Outstanding Coaches in Sports and Games, is sports coaching honor of the Republic of India. 


Arjuna award: The Arjuna Awards are given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports,  to recognize outstanding achievement in National sports.


Dhyan Chand Award: The Dhyan Chand Award is the lifetime achievement sporting honor of the Republic of India.

Jnanpith Award Winners List

Jnanpith Award is the oldest and the highest Indian literary award presented annually by the Bharatiya Jnanpith to an author for their "outstanding contribution towards literature". The Bharatiya Jnanpith, a research and cultural institute founded in 1944 by industrialist Sahu Shanti Prasad Jain of the Sahu Jain family, conceived an idea in May 1961 to start a scheme "commanding national prestige and of international standard" to "select the best book out of the publications in Indian languages".

The first prize was won in 1965 for G. Sankarakuruppu's collection of poems'Odakkuzhal'. G Shankara Kurup (The first poet in Malayalam literature) received the award in 1965. S.K. Pottakkad (1980), Takashi Sivasankarappilla (1984), MT Vasudevan Nair (1995), ONV. Kurup (2007) and Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri (2019) are the other poets who won the Jnanpith Award for their contributions to Malayalam literature.
