Syllabus of the KAS will be decided by Kerala PSC and the Exam will conduct in 2 phases and an interview. KAS Exam will have to undergo three stages in the selection procedure. 

1. Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)
2. Main Exam
3. Interview

KAS officers will be selected in three streams. By direct recruitment 1/3rd vacancies will be filled. 1/3rd vacancies will be filled from regular government employees. Remaining vacancies will be filled from 1st gazetted officers in the government departments.
