സിക വൈറസ്
കൊതുകുകള് വഴി പടരുന്ന രോഗമാണ് സിക. ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിക്കും ചിക്കുന്ഗുനിയക്കും സമാനമായ രോഗലക്ഷണം തന്നെയാണ് സിക്ക വൈറസ് ബാധയ്ക്കും. പകല് കടിക്കുന്ന ഈഡിസ് വിഭാഗത്തില്പെട്ട കൊതുകാണ് വൈറസ് പരത്തുന്നത്. ഫ്ലാവിവൈറിഡെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ അംഗമായ സിക്ക വൈറസ് മൂലം മനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഒരു രോഗമാണ് സിക വൈറസ് രോഗം അഥവാ സിക പനി. തലവേദന, പനി, പേശിവേദന, കണ്ണുവീക്കം, ചർമ്മത്തിൽ ചുവന്ന പാടുകൾ, ചെങ്കണ്ണ്, സന്ധിവേദന എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിയോടു സാദൃശ്യമുള്ള ലക്ഷണങ്ങളാണ് രോഗത്തിനുള്ളത്. ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി, ചിക്കുൻഗുനിയ എന്നീ രോഗങ്ങൾ പരത്തുന്ന ഈഡിസ് കൊതുകുകൾ തന്നെയാണ് സിക രോഗവും പകർത്തുന്നത്. സിക വൈറസ് ബാധയ്ക്ക് പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ചികിത്സ ലഭ്യമല്ല. സിക വൈറസ് ഗുരുതരമായ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള് സൃഷ്ടിക്കാറില്ല. വിശ്രമിച്ചാല് പൂര്ണമായും മാറും. എന്നാല് ഗര്ഭിണികളെയാണ് ബാധിക്കുന്നതെങ്കില് ഗര്ഭസ്ഥശിശുക്കളുടെ തലയോട്ടിക്ക് വളര്ച്ചക്കുറവ് ഉള്പ്പെടെ ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്നങ്ങള് സംഭവിച്ചേക്കാം. അതിനാല് ഗര്ഭിണികള് അതീവജാഗ്രത പുലര്ത്തണം. രക്തം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെയും ലൈംഗിക ബന്ധത്തിലുടെയും രോഗം പകരുമെന്നതും ഗൗരവമായി കാണണം.
രോഗബാധ തടയുവാനുള്ള ഫലപ്രദമായ മാർഗ്ഗം കൊതുകുനിർമ്മാർജ്ജനമാണ്. രോഗത്തിനെതിരെ ഫലപ്രദമായ പ്രതിരോധമരുന്ന് കണ്ടത്തിയിട്ടില്ല. രോഗ ലക്ഷണങ്ങളുള്ളവര് മതിയായ വിശ്രമമെടുക്കുകയും ധാരാളം വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുകയും വേണം. രോഗ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള് കൂടുന്നെങ്കില് ചികിത്സ തേടേണ്ടതാണ്. സിക്ക ബാധിത പ്രദേശത്തുള്ള ലക്ഷണമുള്ള ഗര്ഭിണികള് പരിശോധനയും ചികിത്സയും തേടേണ്ടതാണ്
ശ്ദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട ചില കാര്യങ്ങൾ
- കൊച്ചുകുട്ടികളും ഗര്ഭിണികളും പകല് സമയത്തോ വൈകുന്നേരമോ ഉറങ്ങുകയാണെങ്കില് കൊതുക് വലയ്ക്ക് കീഴില് ഉറങ്ങണം.
- കൊതുക് കടിയില് നിന്നും രക്ഷനേടുകയാണ് സിക്കയെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനുള്ള ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാന മാര്ഗം.
- ഗര്ഭിണികള്, ഗര്ഭധാരത്തിനായി തയ്യാറെടുക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീകള്, കൊച്ചുകുട്ടികള് എന്നിവര് കൊതുക് കടിയേല്ക്കാതെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.
- ജനാലകളും വാതിലുകളും കൊതുക് കടക്കാതെ സംരക്ഷിക്കണം.
- വീടും പരിസരവും സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളും വെള്ളം കെട്ടിനില്ക്കാതെ നോക്കുക.
