പുരാതന കേരളത്തിലെത്തിയ വിദേശ സഞ്ചാരികൾ
- അബു സെയ്ദ് (പേർഷ്യ) - 10 ആം ശതകത്തിലെ കേരളത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു വിവരിക്കുന്നത് ഇദ്ദേഹമാണ്. ഇവിടുത്തെ ചാവേറുകളെക്കുറിച്ചു ആദ്യമായി പരാമർശിച്ച വിദേശ സഞ്ചാരി.
- ഇബ്നു ബത്തൂത്ത (മൊറോക്കോ) - കോലം(കൊല്ലം), കാലിക്കുത്ത്(കോഴിക്കോട്), സാമിരി(സാമൂതിരി) എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആണ് ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പരാമർശം. 14 ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലാണ് കേരളത്തിൽ എത്തിയത്.
- കാസ്മോസ് (ഈജിപ്ത്) - ബൈസാൻറിയൻ പുരോഹിതനായ ഇദ്ദേഹമാണ് കേരളത്തിലെ ക്രിസ്തുമത്തെ കുറിച്ചു തെളിവ് നൽകുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ വിദേശ സഞ്ചാരി. ഇദ്ദേഹം കേരളത്തിന് ‘മലൈ’ എന്ന നാമമാണ് നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
- നിക്കോളോ കോണ്ടി (വെനീസ്) - കൊച്ചിയെക്കുറിച്ചു പരാമർശിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ യൂറോപ്യൻ സഞ്ചാരിയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം
- ഫിയാർ ഒഡൊറിക് (യൂറോപ്പ്) - 1322-ൽ കേരളത്തിൽ സന്ദർശനം നടത്തി. കൊല്ലത്തെ പൊളംബം എന്ന് ഇദ്ദേഹം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു
- ബാർബോസ (പോർട്ടുഗീസ്) - മലബാർ കിഴക്കനാഫ്രിക്കൻ തീരദേശങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരണം'(A description of the Coasts of East Africa and Malabar) എന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന്റെ കർത്താവ്. 16 ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ എത്തി. പുലപ്പേടി, മണ്ണാപ്പേടി എന്നീ ആചാരങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ച് ആദ്യമായി എഴുതിയ വിദേശ സഞ്ചാരിയാണ്
- മാസ്റ്റർ റാൾഫ് ഫിച് (ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട്) - കേരളത്തിലെത്തിയ ആദ്യത്തെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സഞ്ചാരി. 1590 ൽ കേരളത്തിലെത്തി. തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ രാമവർമ മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ ആവശ്യപ്രകാരം മലയാളം-ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്-പോർട്ടുഗീസ് നിഘണ്ടു രചിച്ചു.
- മാഹ്വാൻ (ചൈന) - കൊച്ചിയെക്കുറിച്ചു എഴുതിയ ആദ്യത്തെ വിദേശ സഞ്ചാരി
- മാർക്കോ പോളോ (വെനീസ്) - കൊല്ലത്തെ കൗലം എന്നും മലബാറിനെ മലിബാർ എന്നും മാർക്കോപോളോ പരാമർശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു
- മെഗസ്തനീസ് (ഗ്രീസ്) - കേരളത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ച വിവരം നൽകുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ സഞ്ചാരി. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഗ്രന്ഥമാണ് ഇൻഡിക്ക.ഇതിൽ കേരളത്തെ ‘ചേർമേ’ എന്നാണ് പരാമർശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
- റബ്ബി ബെഞ്ചമിൻ (സ്പെയിൻ) - കൊല്ലത്തെക്കുറിച് വിശദമായി വിവരിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ യൂറോപ്യൻ സഞ്ചാരി.. 1167-ൽ റബ്ബി കൊല്ലതെത്തുമ്പോൾ ആദിത്യ വർമ്മ ആയിരുന്നു വേണാട്ട് രാജാവ്
- സുലൈമാൻ (പേർഷ്യ) - സ്ഥാണുരവിയുടെ കാലത്താണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം കേരളത്തിൽ എത്തിയത്
വട്ടമേശസമ്മേളനങ്ങൾ .
ഭരണഘടനാപരമായ പരിഷ്കരണങ്ങൾ ചർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി 1930 മുതൽ 1932 വരെയുള്ള കാലയളവിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ നാഷണൽ കോൺഗ്രസിനെ കൂടി ചേർത്തുകൊണ്ട് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സർക്കാർ നടത്തിയ സമ്മേളനങ്ങളാണ് വട്ടമേശ സമ്മേളനങ്ങൾ. 930 നവംബറിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച വട്ടമേശ സമ്മേളനങ്ങൾ 1932 ഡിസംബറിൽ അവസാനിച്ചു. മുഹമ്മദലി ജിന്ന, അന്നത്തെ വൈസ്രോയിയായിരുന്ന ഇർവിൻ പ്രരഭുവിനോടും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി റംസെ മക്ഡൊ...
